Boosting Crop Yield in Farming Simulator 25

Engaging in crop farming and owning fields in FS 25 can be highly profitable and is one of the most captivating activities in the game. While it’s true that other farming tasks may offer quicker ways to make money, growing crops is extremely rewarding. The process of sowing and harvesting might take an entire season, but the payoff can be significant when you sell your harvest all at once. Additionally, harvested crops can be used to feed your livestock or be processed further to produce goods like bread, which can then be sold for even more profit. In essence, growing crops in Farming Simulator 25 is a valuable endeavor that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Now, you might wonder why this introduction is necessary. The reason is that in this article, we will explore how to increase your yield in FS 25. We will look at various methods that can help you boost your crop production. Each method can be used on its own or in combination with others for even greater effectiveness.

If you prioritize fieldwork and focus on maximizing your yield, you’ll need to engage in various soil treatment and crop yield improvement tasks. This guide will be invaluable in helping you achieve that.

Let’s dive into the different ways to increase your yield. Each method we’ll discuss is effective on its own, but combining them can lead to even better results. So, without further ado, let’s get started! Remember, the more crops you harvest, the greater your potential profit, making this a worthwhile pursuit.

Cultivation

Cultivation is an essential step before planting a new crop in Farming Simulator. Whether you’ve just purchased a field or have already harvested a crop, you must cultivate the soil to prepare it for the next planting. This process removes weeds, destroys remnants of the previous harvest, and loosens the soil, which is crucial for maintaining high yields. Skipping this step can lead to a significant drop in yield.

To cultivate your fields, you will need a special cultivator, which can be purchased from the store under the tools section. However, in some cases, you might not need to buy a separate cultivator. For example, if you have a seeder with a built-in cultivation function, such as the Amazone Cayena 6001 or similar models, the field will be cultivated and loosened during the sowing process. Additionally, if you are using a stone picker to remove stones from the field, it also loosens the soil, eliminating the need for a separate cultivation step, provided that stones are not disabled in the settings.

In conclusion, cultivating your fields is a crucial process to achieve maximum yield. Neglecting this step can result in significantly lower profits from your crops. Therefore, always ensure your soil is properly prepared before planting to optimize your farming success.

Plowing

Plowing is a crucial soil treatment method distinct from cultivation. While both processes prepare the soil, they serve different purposes and have unique impacts on crop yield. Cultivation, done before sowing, improves the soil structure by loosening the surface and removing weeds and roots. Plowing, on the other hand, involves deeper soil treatment, making the soil less dense, which facilitates the growth of young plant sprouts and significantly increases soil aeration. This added oxygen benefits plant roots, promoting faster growth.

Plowing is essential in Farming Simulator 25. Failing to plow results in a -15% yield penalty, which is substantial. To plow, you need a special plow attached to a tractor, available in the tools section of the store (accessed by pressing the P key or through the game menu with the ESC key).

When should you plow?

  • Plow if you plan to plant a different type of crop in the field.
  • Plowing is necessary to avoid the yield penalty.
  • It can also accelerate the growth and maturation of crops like wheat, potatoes, sorghum, and barley.
  • It is particularly important to plow fields that previously grew potatoes, corn, sugar cane, or beets.
  • Plowing enriches the soil with oxygen, directly enhancing yield.

In summary, plowing in Farming Simulator 25 is not just beneficial but essential for maximizing crop yield. Use this method to boost your agricultural success and enjoy a more fruitful farming experience!

Using Lime for Fertilization

Liming involves treating soil by adding lime to maintain its fertility and good condition. This practice helps balance the soil’s pH level, ensuring your crops have an optimal environment to grow. Limed soil becomes looser and better at absorbing oxygen and nutrients, which accelerates plant growth.

What You’ll Need:

  • A Tractor: Any model capable of pulling a fertilizer spreader.
  • Fertilizer/Lime Spreader: Found in the tools category of the store.
  • Lime Pallet: Purchased in the store under pallets or bags.
  • Transport Trailer: For carrying lime.
  • Loader: For loading lime bags into the trailer.

You can purchase all these items in the store by pressing the P key. Be aware that not all spreaders are suitable for lime, so check for the appropriate icon indicating compatibility when buying.

When to Apply Lime:
Typically, lime should be applied after each harvest. However, it’s not necessary to lime too often. You can find field information and the need for lime in a special information window when you approach a field. Generally, it’s recommended to apply lime to improve soil fertility every 2-3 planting seasons.

In summary, liming is a crucial task to maintain soil fertility. Without it, your soil’s productivity will significantly decline, impacting your harvests.

Weed Control

Weeds… They are the bane of every farmer’s existence. They occupy valuable space needed for crops to grow and drain the soil of essential nutrients and moisture. As a result, your crop yield can suffer significantly.

In FS 25, there are specialized machines and tools to tackle weeds. A weeder machine is typically used for this task. For fields with potatoes or grain crops, using a hoe or cultivator is recommended to avoid damaging the crops. You can find all the necessary tools in the store.

When to Remove Weeds:
The best time to remove weeds is at the first stage of their growth, as soon as they appear. Delaying this task will decrease the yield from your field. Weeds go through several growth stages, and it’s crucial to manage them early. For detailed information on weed removal, their growth stages, and the required equipment, you can refer to a dedicated article on our website.

Rolling

Rolling is a soil treatment method that compacts and levels the soil surface. In Farming Simulator 25, rolling enhances yield and helps young sprouts break through the soil more easily. It also levels the ground and pushes medium and small stones back into the soil.

When to Roll:
Rolling should be done immediately after sowing your crops. Ensure that the entire field is sown before you start rolling.

What You Need:
To roll your fields, you’ll need a tractor and a roller. Both can be purchased from the agricultural machinery store, accessible by pressing the P key.

How to Roll Your Fields:

  1. Purchase and Prepare Equipment: If you don’t already have a tractor and roller, buy them from the store. Ensure that the tractor has enough power to pull the roller efficiently across the soil.
  2. Attach the Roller: Back your tractor up to the roller and press the Q key to attach it. If the equipment doesn’t attach, adjust your position until you see the connection prompt on the screen.
  3. Start Rolling: Move to the edge of your field, lower the roller, and start driving across the field. The roller will automatically compact and level the soil as you move.
  4. Cover the Entire Field: After completing one strip, turn around, shift slightly to the side, and continue rolling. Repeat this process until the entire field is covered.
  5. Consider Roller Weight and Power: Rollers come in different weights and power capacities. Heavier rollers provide better compaction but require a more powerful tractor.

Benefits of Rolling:

  • Improves Soil Structure: Rolling helps to press stones into the soil and levels the surface.
  • Enhances Seed-to-Soil Contact: This promotes better germination and growth.
  • Prevents Soil Erosion: Rolling helps keep the soil and seeds intact, reducing erosion risks.

Remember, rolling is essential after sowing, not before. It ensures your crops have the best conditions to thrive and produce a higher yield.

Fertilizing

Fertilizing your fields is the most effective way to increase yields in FS 25. The process is similar to liming, using specialized sprayers and spreaders, but the substances used are different. Fertilizers, both organic and inorganic, provide essential nutrients such as potassium, phosphorus, and nitrogen. These can be either liquid or solid, and the application method depends on the type. Liquid fertilizers require sprayers, while solid fertilizers need spreaders.

You can find all the necessary equipment in the store under the appropriate categories. Fertilizers are typically sold in pallets or bags in the “Objects” section.

Organic Fertilizers
If you have livestock, you can use manure to fertilize your fields. This method is very cost-effective and boosts yields without the need to buy additional fertilizers. Simply purchase a spreader and use the manure produced by cows or other livestock. Note that not all manure types are suitable for all crops.

When and How Often to Fertilize Fields?
It’s best to apply fertilizers no more than twice during the crop cycle. Ensure there is at least one growth stage between the two fertilization stages.

Recommended timings are:

  • Before sowing
  • After sowing (during the earliest growth stages)
  • During the vegetation period

Which Fertilizers to Use?
The choice of fertilizer depends on your resources and farming style. If you have animals producing manure, it makes sense to use it as a fertilizer. It’s an excellent, cost-effective option for improving yields. If you don’t have livestock, you can buy high-quality liquid or solid fertilizers from the store at a reasonable price.

Experiment and Optimize
Experimentation is key to determining which fertilizers work best for your crops. Some fertilizers may be more effective for certain crops than others. Trying different types and combinations can help you optimize your yields.

In summary, fertilizing your fields is crucial for maximizing yields. Whether you use organic, mineral, solid, liquid, or a combination of fertilizers, ensure you apply them correctly and at the right times to achieve the best results.

Mulching

We’ve already covered several effective ways to boost your yields in Farming Simulator 25, but we’re not done yet. There are still at least two more methods to explore, and they are commonly used in the game. One such method is mulching, which requires a special piece of equipment called a mulcher.

You can find mulchers in the store under the tools section. They come in various power levels and sizes. Choosing the right mulcher depends on the size of your field. Even the cheapest mulcher can handle large fields, but it will take more time and effort compared to a more powerful model. Always consider your budget and field size when purchasing equipment.

Different crops may require different mulchers. To determine which mulcher is suitable for a particular crop, look at the crop icons displayed when purchasing the equipment.

When and How to Mulch a Field
The best time to mulch is before sowing a new crop or immediately after harvesting. This process helps destroy leftover shoots and slows down weed growth.

Using a mulcher is straightforward. Attach the mulcher to your tractor, drive to the field, and start the process. Begin at the edge of the field and work your way across to ensure even coverage. Make sure to activate the mulcher before starting by pressing the appropriate key on your keyboard (check your game settings for the specific key).

Here are the steps:

  • Attach the mulcher to your tractor.
  • Drive to the field you want to mulch.
  • Start at the edge of the field.
  • Move systematically across the field to avoid missing spots.
  • Activate the mulcher and proceed with the treatment.

Remember, proper mulching can significantly impact your yield by maintaining soil health and preventing weeds. Combine this method with the other yield-boosting techniques we’ve discussed for the best results.

Stone Removal from Fields

One effective method to boost field productivity in Farming Simulator 25 is the removal of stones and boulders from your fields.

After cultivation or plowing, you might notice an abundance of stones scattered across your fields. These stones become more visible when the deeper layers of soil are mixed with the surface. During these times, you’ll see large, medium, and small rocks emerging.

It’s highly recommended to remove these stones. Not only do they make it harder for plants to grow, but they also cause wear and tear on your agricultural machinery. Additionally, any further fieldwork becomes much more challenging due to the presence of these boulders. So, it’s best not to ignore them and remove them whenever possible.

How to Remove Stones from Fields
We’ve covered the importance of stone removal, now let’s look at the necessary equipment and the stone removal process itself.

Stone removal requires specialized equipment, which can be found in the tools section of the store.

Here are some key points to remember:

  • Large and medium stones should be removed, while small stones can be crushed back into the soil using a special roller, a process we discussed earlier.
  • This rolling method isn’t effective for medium and large stones. If your field has a significant number of these, it’s better to purchase stone removal equipment and clear them away.
  • Collecting stones can generate additional income since they can be taken to a stone crusher and sold.

Using the right equipment, you can ensure your machinery lasts longer and your fields remain productive.

for me, living in Japan, adding rice is the best thing they could ever add!!
It’s been years I’m dreaming to make a map of the asian countryside, but I lack the knowledge. finally, my dream of having rice is coming!

I grew up on a rice farm in the Arkansas delta. I’m pretty excited about it too. I’ve been playing since 13 so I’ve learned to temper my expectations

ahahahah yes. By now I understand that is not really “a new game”, but rather an improvement of the same game. I have the same expectation of “Excel will release a new version next month”. still, the rice is a pretty big thing.

I really hope is not something half baked like the grape and the olives… which never really had a follow up.

Also I wonder if they will implement some of the construction part. the “construction mission” of the forest map were awsome

    • Khallinth says:

I would love for them to make a Japan map with all of the old and new Japanese farming equipment. I lived there as a kid and I have always remembered that place fondly.
